Summary

The following is an initiative and guide on how the Chamber itself can adopt “green practices” and thereby serve as a guide to the surrounding Main Line businesses.  It has always been our hope throughout this project, that these positive changes will trickle down to the Main Line community at large which will have a positive effect on the environment in that we all live.
We have provided a two-year time line, included in this document, that is easy to follow and cost-effective to implement.
The following are categories that we have chosen to focus:

  1.  Recycling
  2. Energy Conservation
  3. Water Conservation
  4. Green Culture
  5. Education

Additional Steps Our Group Has Taken:
1.  Blog – We have created an online blog that documents our journey in Leadership Main Line and also with finding the resources necessary to begin the implementation of sustainability practices.  We have also procured a website www.mlgg.org and have designed a logo for our project that is based off the Main Line Chamber’s logo.  This provides for a cohesive message that ties “Going Green” with the Main Line Chamber of Commerce.

  1.  Connected the Chamber to a Valuable Resource – We have met with Charlie Szoradi, a local architect and owner of an amazing local “green” home.  Mr .Szoradi is a wealth of knowledge in the area of sustainability and has a tremendous resource that he has complied called www.greenandsave.com.  This website is an amazing resource for not only the Main Line Chamber, but also the surrounding Main Line community.

Video – Through the gracious assistance of Beholder Productions, a Main Line Chamber member, we have created a video that can serve as a public service commercial on the www.mlcc.org site.  It further communicates that “Going Green is Just Good Business” and positions the Chamber in being a trailblazer.  This video has a sharp clear message and features Main Line Chamber members.  This video will be presented at the 2008 Main Line Chamber Leadership celebration dinner when we unveil our sub-project of Leadership Main Line Class of 2008 and will be given to the Main Line Chamber for their use.

Future Events and Project Sustainability - We have arranged future events through the Chamber to expose and educate it’s members about sustainability and “green practices” that are cost-effective, and socially responsible.  Many members of our sub-group has also offered in the future to serve on an task force/or Committee to aid the Chamber in continuing the education and adoption of “Green Practices” in order to keep the Chamber on the cutting edge.
